The Mega Millions lottery is a popular game offering massive jackpots. Many players opt for “Quick Pick” tickets, letting the lottery terminal randomly select their numbers. But how much does this convenience cost?
Standard Ticket Price
A standard Mega Millions ticket, whether you choose your own numbers or use Quick Pick, costs $2 per play. This price has remained consistent for a long time. Each individual line on the ticket represents one play.
Quick Pick & Multiple Draws
Quick Pick doesn’t add any extra cost. The $2 price covers the random number generation. You can, however, purchase tickets for multiple draws:
- Multiple Draws on One Ticket: You can select the same Quick Pick numbers for multiple future draws (e.g., 4, 10, 26 draws). The cost increases proportionally – 4 draws would be $8, 10 draws $20, and so on.
- Power Play: For an additional $1 per play, you can add the Power Play option. This multiplies your non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times (the multiplier is randomly drawn before the main numbers). A Quick Pick with Power Play costs $3 per play.
Cost Examples
Here are a few examples to illustrate the costs:
- One Quick Pick ticket: $2
- One Quick Pick ticket with Power Play: $3
- Five Quick Pick tickets: $10
- Ten Quick Pick tickets with Power Play: $30
- One Quick Pick for 10 future draws: $20
Where to Buy
Mega Millions tickets are available at authorized lottery retailers in most states. Ticket prices are the same regardless of where you purchase them.
Important Note
Lottery games are a form of gambling. Play responsibly and within your means. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are extremely low.
